Catnip Toy Broke Open – Is this Dangerous for my Cat?

I was playing with my cat with catnip, then the cloth broke open a bit so there’s a lot of catnip on the floor. My cat licked it up (gross), and I don’t know if this is was safe for her…

No biggie. Your cat could roll in a catnip field and be cool. Maybe a little nutty. Catnip is not harmful to your cat. They won’t overdose on it. Most cats know when they’ve had enough & will refuse any further offers.
Catnip is a perennial herb. It is a member of the Mint family Labiatae, it is also a distant relation of marijuana. It is well known for it’s ability to get cat’s high. It is native to Europe & Asia, however has become naturalised in America & Canada after being introduced. There are approximately 250 species of Catnip, and this figure doesn’t include hybrid species.

a cats reaction to catnip is like a humans reactions to allot of red bull. they get really hyper but it doesn’t make them sick or anything. If you think that your cat is really sick call your vet but otherwise don’t bother because then 1) you stress about nothing or 2) you spend your money on a kitty check up when your Kitty’s fine.
