Is catnip edible? Bought a toy that can hold treats or catnip. Is is ok 4 kitten to eat catnip?
I got a coupon for free catnip. I was looking for one of the toys that you stick the catnip in it and close it back, but instead I found a toy that holds treats or catnip. So that means the catnip can come out and he may eat it, is it okay for him to eat it? Thank you.
Sure it is. And, as the catnip stuffed toy ages, the scent of the catnip decreases so your cat may ignore it, or simply play with it regardless.
However, not all cats are sensitive to catnip (it is genetic), and if your kitten is under six months, most at that age ignore catnip. They need to be a bit older before they either show interest in catnip or not.
Catnip has oils in the leaves that have the active ingredient cats can love. Eating the leaves breaks the capsule holding the oils.

HECK YES! Cats love catnip – or any other species of the mint family. It’s a good way for indoor cats to get the "green" nutrients they miss in their dry food. Plus it’s hilarious to watch them get frisky and run around.

Besides the narcotic like effect that it has catnip is supposed to be good for the digestive tract in cats. No harm.

Well people will say different things but it’s meant for 6 months and up some cats are ok on it and some are not. It’s kinda like pot. would you let a baby have pot or a small child? No but just watch them with it if they are snap show, don’t let them have it if they are ok then go ahead

Yes most cats love catnip, it makes them kinda hyper and excited. But some cats try to stay away from it.

Cat nip is great for cats and kittens! It helps with digestion and after they have their little freak out session, they settle right down and mellow out…. try growing some in the yard for them… you’ll have the most mellow cats on the block!

Yes, Catnip is edible for cats and humans. You can even buy fresh Catnip plants that they can nibble on, but don’t over do it, too much Catnip can cause belly aches.

Yes, but I read on a yahoo website that young kittens don’t react to cat nip. Don’t know why, and I haven’t tried it out myself, but it still can’t hurt to give it to him.

Katt’s comment is correct. Kits do not have the same reaction to catnip as older cats. Plus, if they ar around it all the time they won’t get the same effect.
Personally, I’d wait a few months before going it to your kit and then give it as a treat. However, no harm will come to your kit if you give it to him now.

Young kittens should not be exposed to catnip, otherwise it is safe to ingest.
