how old does my kitten have to be before he can play with toys that have catnip in them?

the vet thinks he’s 6-8 weeks old, and i want him to have things to play with but it’s very hard to find kitty toys without catnip in them.. how old should he be before i give him catnip?

If the toys contain the catnip and it’s not eating it directly (like giving him a pinch of ‘nip from a jar) you can give them toys immediately. As for giving them the straight weed – wait until they are 3-4 months old, and never more than a pinch.

Most cathouses, scratching post and toys are sprayed with the scent of ‘nip – and don’t use actual plants. All are safe for your kitten.

He shouldn’t be under 2 months because it could cause his nervous system problems.

He can have catnip toys at any age. It’s just a matter of whether he reacts to the catnip or not. That’s the age thing.
