Is it safe to give ferrets toys filled with catnip?
Theres so many great cat toys but there filled with catnip and I’m worried it’s toxic
Don’t give your ferret toys filled with catnip. If they tear open the toy and ingest it…it could lead to huge problems. Catnip makes cats high…it would probably do the same thing to ferrets, but they weigh so much less, it could be dangerous. Also…any toys filled with ANYTHING…you have to be careful. Our boy loves stuffed animals, but we have to really watch when hes playing because he’ll tear it open and rip out all the fluff.
Usually a ferret will really like a particular texture. Dog toys are great. Remember to also check toys for frays, tears, cracks, etc and when a toy is worn, toss it, so no part of the toy is consumed and causes a blockage.
Good luck!
