My cat doesn’t like toys or catnip?
I feel kind of bad for my cat because I feel like he is not entertained enough, especially when I’m not home. I buy him catnip, toys with catnip in it, toys without catnip in it, toys that move, toys that don’t move, plushie toys, etc…and he has NO INTEREST in ANY of it.
What should I do for him to make him happy when I’m gone? And no I’m NOT getting another cat! Thanks!
By the way he is four years old.
His favorite prey are chipmunks. Good idea! LOL
some cats just don’t like cat nip and some cats just aren’t playful. it would help if you knew what his favourite prey was-then you could imitate it in the toys (like some of mine like mice so they get small mice toys and some like birds so they get bouncy balls mine are indoor so they’ve never had real ones but i figured out what they wanted when walking them just buy what they went for) or try a laser pen but if he’s not bothered theres not much point in wasting your money at 4 most cats are out of there playful stage

Your kitty will likely be happy just to sleep and eat while you are gone. My kitties’ favorite toys are cheap teeny tiny stuffed mice or occasionally a little ball that makes noise when it rolls. The best thing I ever made for them was a cotton tube sock filled with fresh catnip I bought off of ebay, with the top tied in a knot. They all love that one. But after they start gettin older, they don’t seem to play as much as sleep and eat.

Your cat probably sleeps while you are gone and he likes it. I notice that my cats are wild and play when I am around. When I leave they go to sleep and when I come home they go wild. I have peaked through the window and witnessed their laziness.
Some cats just don’t like catnip.
One toy that I have found that all my cats/kittens love is a mouse that is on an elastic string that clips onto a doorway. The cat touches it and it bounces away so it can chase it. That is self entertaining.
I am sure he is a happy cat

My 1 year old cat is just like that!! But they do take interest when they make noise or maybe you move them about but cats do get bored of them and take interest in them again like today i woke up to find my cat going hyper over a toy she hated!! She was bugging me all morning but it was worth to see she was having fun ^_^

Like the others have said, your cat is likely to sleep when you’re out and become active when you’re back so it can play with YOU (much more fun than a toy). Make sure he’s got a scratch mat so if he does get frustrated he doesn’t take it out on your furniture!
Also, a healthy proportion of cats are ‘immune’ to the effects of catnip (about half) and no-one knows why.

Let him outside! It is natural for a cat to provide for itself. If he has claws, then he’ll have fun outside. My cat goes outside all the time, but comes inside to get food and play and sleep. And some cats don’t like catnip. It acts as a sedative and some cats just don’t like that effect. Also if you are using dried catnip, fresh catnip is much better and cats like it better.
