Should I take my cat’s catnip toys away from her?
I gave her a catnip toy and she was making this weird noise whenever she picked it up like a growl or something and then when she was playing with it I came close to her and she hissed at me for the first time. I petted her like a few minutes later to see what she would do and she didn’t hurt me or anything but this cat never hisses or anything. She’s sooo friendly but as soon as I give her catnip she goes a little crazy. Hisses, growls, runs around like a maniac, etc. Should I discontinue giving it to her? Frankly, it’s fun to watch her but i don’t want it to get too far.
Kitty pot! It will wear off. If she gets too rambunctious limit her time with the ‘pot pillow’.
I agree with you, some of them do get carried away with the stuff. Don’t take it personally. They are fun to watch with it and when they had enough of it they will be their loving little self again.

They compare catnip to a cat as weed is to humans it alters them a little bit but only for a short time, some cats can be very funny when "under the influence"

I would take it away from her, if you continue to let her play with them and act like that she will end up acting like that all the time.

It’s like giving an alcoholic a case of beer. She is having such a strong reaction that out of fear for myself and others in my family, I would only give it to her on special occasions.

That’s totally normal. Kitties get crazy when you give them catnip. Just don’t give her too much. I usually give my cats about a teaspoon every couple days. They all go crazy and hiss and growl at each other, (especially when one of them tries to get the other’s catnip) but they never hurt themselves or each other, so it’s fine.
The effects of catnip are temporary and usually wear off quickly.

It might be that your giving her too much or something like that. Take a little bit out of the toy, if the catnip can be taken out. If she still acts like that then take some more advice and decide what to do.
