Is there any way to wash and disinfect soft/cloth cat toys?

Both of our cats have ringworm now (not too severe luckily) and I know the best thing to do would be to just throw away their toys and get new ones, but they have some favorite ones that are soft (like little mice and catnip sacks) that I’d like to just wash and disinfect if possible..is there a way to do that? If not I will just throw them out and they’ll get over it, but I thought I’d give it a shot! Thanks!

Hello, Well i see that you are asking about "Cat" toys. Well i use for my puggle,,, a mesh longseray laun.. bag..

I always throw my kitty toys in the washing machine… they come out all white, and not any hair on them at all!!!

Throw them in the washing machine with about a capful of bleach, then they’re disinfected and you won’t have to throw them out!

When it come to animals, I have a soft spot in my head. When it comes to ring worms, I would buy new toys.

Do yourself and your cats a favor. Toss the toys regularly.

If that doesn’t work for you, I could become quite graphic and refer you to a site with pictures.

    Toss ‘em.

cat nip is an herb…I’d throw that one away as it can harbor regular germs and is a fabulous breeding ground for ringworm.
you can also put small toys in the dishwasher, where the water gets to 140 degrees which is santizing. I’ve heard of people putting toys in the microwave, but I don’t know what the germ killing action is!

good luck and hope kitties are well.

Buy new toys. The kittens won’t remember what toys they had after a while, and with ringworm, i’d not chance it. toss em out.

don’t even try bleach, can you imagine handing a baby a toy washed in bleach? the kittens will be all over them with their mouths and paws..bleach is a BAD idea. toxic.

just buy a few new toys for the babes.

catnip can’t be washed. Throw them away and find some similar toys for them.

    I’m sorry about your kitties!
