why do my cats put their toys in the food bowl?
I will constantly find my cats toys in their food bowl. I have 2 sisters and their almost a year old. They’ve done this ever since we moved into our new house back in sept.
Cats view toys as "prey" items to practise their hunting skills on.
Quite a few cats place their toys in their water or food dishes. I’ve read this is because cats look upon their food area as part of their territory and that particular area of their territory doesn’t change location from day to day. So it’s a safe area to store prey for later.

Hello there. I volunteer at a cat shelter where I sometimes encounter this too. When I go to clean a cat cage, I will find toy mice in the food bowls. It is unintentional, and is something that just happens. Maybe your cats are comforted with eating their food while the toys are in the bowl with them (so long as they don’t swallow them or anything).
If you don’t like this at all, remove the toys and put them in a drawer while your kittens are eating. When they are done, give them back their toys.
I go to volunteer every week, and I always find a toy mouse in the water bowl being "waterboarded"! LOL!

I have a cat who does the same thing. I don’t know why but he loved to do it. He stopped after he turned two.
