What to sell at a shelter pet fundraiser?
I’m trying to come up with clever ideas for sales/fundraisers on a limeted budget: only about $100. I have ample craft (knitting/crocheting) and painting supplies. I’m thinking about selling homemade pet (especially cat) treats. Does anyone have any links to inexpensive recipies/patterns/ideas? (Uniqueness gets you more brownie points!)
At one of our cat shows, the Girl Scouts came in with a unique fundraiser. They brought in 2 small portable sewing machines, some pre-cut mouse shaped (simple) pieces of fabric in multi and solid colors, stuffing (cotton), a little catnip and a yarn tail. You got to pick out what color(s) you wanted on your mouse and they would sew it up into a cute catnip mouse for your cat.
Was a big hit with everyone and they charged about $3.00 per mouse. I got one that is solid blue on one side and spotted leopard on the other

Bake treats for the animals and their owners…. Also if you knit… Why not knit and sell blankets? Also you may find buying things cheap on ebay n selling them for more money may help…

Try these…There are lots of recipes to choose from each one..

Look around in dollar stores for cookie cutters. I found plastic ones, one shaped like a bone and one shaped like a fish, just the right shapes for both species.
Just a suggestion…you might want to list (or at least, know..) the ingredients used in the recipes. There are several animals out there with specific dietary needs, so some people need to be careful with what foods go into their pets.
Perhaps you might want to even bake cupcakes for people as well? People go nuts over them! lol
Good luck with the fundraiser!

One suggestion for a very simple one which should be fast to make, cat rollies:

You could also make them with good quality cat nip inside.
Sell in packs of three and charge $5.00. That’s enough money to make a difference but not too much for a person to part with for an impulse purchase.

Hand crocheted pet beds. Crochet a circular bottom. Make the sides twice as high as you want them (they will flop over) . Make sure to decrease a little as you make the sides. The decreases will tend to make them flop towards the inside. Use a firm tension. If you want a knitting pattern use Cat Bordhi’s A Second Treasury of Magical Knitting. I’m not sure it it is available free on the web, but it is worth purchasing.
