Are there toys or bones for cats who like to bite and chew on things?
Hi, my cat loves to bite trash bags, plastic, shirts that are hanging from a hanger….. he just loves to bite and chew…. are there toys or bones for cats that could fulfill his need to bite? Thanks.
If you go to the pet store, sometimes they have little balls that cats can play with made of crumpled up plastic (like trash bag material, but a little thicker). It’s ind of like a tiny plastic pom pom, and a lot of times I think they’re called "crinkle balls" (see picture in the source link I provided).
It sounds like your cat likes to bite plastic or things that are thin (as far as what you described, at least), and those seem like they would be the most satisfying for him.

Hm-mm, well my cat loves to play, my mom would get him all sorts of things, plastic balls with bells, things to chase, have a laser light, shine it on the floor and they go crazy, just don’t try your fingers!

Yes. There are toys that crinkle and crunch when chewed. Try Target, WalMart, or PetsMart… Just make sure that if he tears it up that you throw the toy out and get a new one. They should never be allowed to eat the stuffing.
I don’t know of any chewy treats or anything like that. Cooked bones are never safe. Raw bones can be, but you have to be careful which ones. I wouldn’t offer any of those unless you research raw diets. But if you are willing to research those then I think raw feeding with bones could be a good option since both meat and bones would involve more chewing and gnawing that commercial cat food and should be a healthier way to eat if done properly.

It is great that you play with your kitty friend. Our cats like to play with drinking straws, and I still cannot figure out the fascination in that.
Just check in the pet section at your local discount store and you will find pre-made toys for your pet. Cats are so easy to please when it comes to making a toy. I have a long stip of material left over from a sewing project that our cats love to chase. Maybe they think it is a long tail of another animal; whatever the reason, they like it. Just about anything that they can chase will be fun for them. Just remember that any toy can be a potential hazard, so put it up when you walk away.
Here is a tip: if he bites your hand, let your hand go limp for a few seconds. He should relax his grip a bit so that you can get free. Tell him no, and remove your hand when he has let up. Cats are preditors, and sometimes when they get overexcited playing, they go after us humans a little too roughly. When cats bite and we pull and tug on our hands to get away, they hang on that much tighter. Ever notice how outdoor cats like to play with their catch until it dies, then walk away and leave it (for the humans to clean up)? It is the thrill of the hunt.

There aren’t any chew toys for cats, but the Vet did once tell me, to get those stick shaped chew toys for small dogs.
I had a cat that ate holes in everything plastic, I could never break her of that habit, so I had to hide everything plastic!
Ask the Vet.
