How effective is honeysuckle compared to catnip?
I was at a Christmas food and gift festival a couple weekends ago and there was one vendor selling honeysuckle toys for cats. They didn’t have much info that I could see other than a statistic saying that 85% more cats prefer it to catnip. I didn’t even know cats were attracted to it in the first place, much less that number.
I have one cat who has no interest whatsoever in catnip, so I was curious if this might work as an alternative. I guess you don’t really know till you try it.
I have never heard of cats being attracted to honeysuckle either, but it’s something I’ll definitely look up now, thank you.
My cats have never been into catnip, but they are nuts about valerian (which apparently belong to the same order of plants as honeysuckle). I always have a bottle of the stinky stuff in my cupboard (I buy it either at the pharmacy or the petshop) and give them a couple of drops on their toys here and then. If you have more than one cat, make sure that they each get their own valerian smelly toy, otherwise they might squabble over it.

Hi there…apparently cats who are responsive to catnip will like honeysuckle. Here’s a Q&A that you may find helpful about honeysuckle for cats: http://sub.allpetsconsidered.com/Primary%20Pages/About_Honeysuckle.htm

I’ve heard the same but tried it on my cat and he had absolutely no interest whatsoever – he LOVES his catnip though. So far everyone I’ve passed the honeysuckle onto have had the same results so I really doubt the statistics but you never know if your cat will like it until you try it right?
