What are your cats & or kittens "fave" toys? My cat likes a small hollow pumpkin on a line pawed off a wall!!
He seems to like especially the sound of it hitting hollow toned off the wall and it is also in a place where he can reach his claws up and around exercising his paws while batting that pumpkin off the wall. It is neat to hear the sound and know he is having Fun!
I have set up various items on a string and he is ok with a ball of yarn for a while. He pawed a wrapped up round paper bag for hours late one night on the smooth kitchen floor but doesnt do that one any more. He likes lots of things pulled on a string especially if it gets wrapped up around him with the string a little.
How do you teach him to fetch? Will most cats fetch if properly trained? What is the best cool thing your cat does or you can make him do and how or do you do it.? What is the cooolest little secret or technique you use to make taking care of a cat fun or easy? What is the best kind of litter for the dollar value to keep dust down and cleanup easy with minimal chemicals and waste refusal requirements?
My kittens like anyhting that makes noise. Especially trash. They love grocery bags and plastic wrappers that make that scrunching noise.

I have 2 cats that are both in love with ripping up paper, and playing in plastic bags. I think they love the sound of it. I’ve taught my cat to sit on command, and she’ll stand aswell. But only if she wants to. That’s the joy of cats. They’ll only ever do what you want them to if they want to do it. The way to get a cat to do something is food. That’s it. When I taught my cat to sit, I would hold a piece of food above her nose and wait until she plopped her bum down when trying to reach back for it. She got the picture really quickly. She used to fake being sick for attention though, she’s smart and a bit cheeky.

Both of mine go crazy for the little furry mice, and one just loves the rings off of the gallon milk cartons!

Last Christmas, I got my daughter a toy "Fur-real Friend kitten. It’s this "kitten" which appears to be a stuffed animal, but also has recorded cat sounds, such as ‘meows’ in a couple of different tones, and purring. It also moves. (It’s touch activated.) Anyway, to make a long story longer….my kid had absolutely no interest in it, but when our kitten discovered it (on the floor), she LOVED it! She still plays with it now (but not nearly as much). Sometimes she attacks it as if it was her prey, and other times, she carries it around by the scruff (sp?) She’ll go spastic with it, and it’s fun to watch. I believe it was $11. She also likes to play with flies, if one gets in the house.
As for fetching, that is a dog thing. Cats will do what they want. I think actually that they train you. For example, sometimes in the mornings (EARLY morning, like 5:30 – 6:00), my cat jumps onto a chair in my bedroom to flip the light switch on to wake me because she wants to be fed. Of course, I get up, go downstairs and give (fetch) her breakfast. She has me trained to do that.

My cats fav toy is the plastic ring that comes off the milk jug unless it breaks. He likes it in its circle.

My cat’s favorite toy is a plastic stick that used to have a string and feathers attached to it. She kept trying to swallow the feathers and string so I took them off. Now she is obsessed with the stick. I drag it around on the carpet and she chases it. She will play so hard that she starts panting like a dog, but she never seems to get enough– she always begs for more!
She also plays fetch, but I didn’t teach her– she taught me. She kept bringing her ball to me while I was trying to sleep. She would drop it in my hand and then start biting my hand until I threw it for her. Now we have to play fetch everyday, but only when SHE wants to. If I initiate it, she acts like she couldn’t care less about the dumb ball! She has done a wonderful job training me!
